Baltimore's Best and ONLY TRUE AFTER-HOURS

It’s time to say goodbye! I started in the nightclub industry over 26 years ago, in a bar called NUMBERS located on Boston Street, it was a gay club at the time, It became Tremors, The SPOT NIGHTCLUB and Fusion! I have worked for the Hippo, and owned the GAS LAMP now part of EDEN’s(bet you wish I still had it). And was the GM of REDWOOD TRUST when it was hot, and tried it again later as STADIO with Rob and Bobby. In addition to this history  I somehow walked thru the doors almost 17 years ago of CLUB 1722, and took over. Cleaned it up, painted, painted and re- painted so many times. And threw some of the most wildly decorated and attended theme parties in Maryland. I motivated a lot of the club promoters you now know today.  Bursting my own bubble I guess.. 

In July 2008, I was in a hit and run accident, and have been suffering in pain for over 14 lonely months. But last February 21st, I surrendered the keys to Paul, regretfully but I knew I would be out quite a long time from recovery. Actually I ended up having two back surgeries opposed to the one originally thought. During my time I have been in recovery, I did my best to make it to a computer to update you by BLOG. And have sent out many, many, many annoying texts letting you know of the clubs events. This past month alone my phone records indicate I sent out over 8000! But It will come to a final end. EFFECTIVE this weekend! This final blog..the final texts. But know that it comes with a heavy heart, and a saddening realization that it is time to move on. Under the new manager’s direction; Jason, the club is doing quite well, and I can feel truly comfortable cutting the cord from my baby, my hearts consumption for many years. 

I have met quite a few special people thru the doors here at 1722. Even a partner of 8 years! But as that ended, all good things must. Meaning my  “professional” relationship with the club is over but not my love or support of the venue and all it stands for. I spent 36 hours in Baltimore City Jail Population for this place! I stand by it, and cannot believe all the acclimates the club has received over the years: BALTIMORE MAGAZINE and numerous City Paper Best of AWARDS. But I can’t take all the credit, there were a slew of people that helped make 1722 what it once was, and what it now is. Still in existence, and moving along steady and strong. Paul, you gave me a chance of a lifetime, and made me the ICON I am so often referred to as. Thanks, (but a word to the wise a thank you and great job staff goes a long long way) LOL! And to the other bar managers and owners that allowed us to cross promote, you helped make 1722 a success and thanks so much!

As I stated, my professional relationship is over, but I will be there as a customer, and hopefully won’t have to wait in to long of a line, or fight to get my six guests in for free! So walk up, hug me gently. offer me what you will, but know I am a consumer just like you! ANd NO I do not KNOW!

The staff, management and owner Paul know that if they ever need me for anything it will be hard, virtually impossible to say NO..Because it’s my life’s work, and I have had some very successful high profile jobs, But my own little world once known as 1722 has meant more to me than any other career or job I have ever held!

A FINAL FAREWELL TO YOU ALL. THANKS FOR THE TIME WE HAVE SPENT TOGETHER. AND HOPEFULLY WE WILL CROSS PATHS AGAIN, UNLIKE THE LAST 14 MONTHS DO NOT IGNORE ME SHOULD YOU SEE ME OUT! CAUSE I AM HUMAN, AND GUESS WHAT? I NO LONGER CLOSE THE COFFIN LID ON SUNDAY MORNING AND RE-OPEN IT ON THURSDAY,as many of you thought for years!  I LIVE, I EXIST AND I NEED LOVING TOO~!
